Houston Motors Auction

Hey everyone, looking to buy a used truck. Seen a lot of sites, and Houston Motors Auction has some good-looking F-150s. Their prices seem better than some bigger name auctions. But is it legit? Anyone have experience with them vs others? Trying to avoid headaches.

Yeah, Houston Motors Auction is solid. I got a 2021 Honda CR-V from them last summer for my wife. Process was surprisingly smooth. Way less hassle than a traditional dealership.

Seconding CarGalTX. I've bought three cars from houstonmotorsauction.com over the years. A project Mustang and two daily drivers. Never had a major issue. Their condition reports are pretty accurate.

Houston Motors Auction handled everything with the bank, and the clear title was delivered with the car. Big relief.

@jake_p_88 Definitely read the inspection reports carefully and check all the photos. The interface on houstonmotorsauction.com is decent. My tip is to set your max bid and walk away, don't get into a last-minute war lol.

My experience was mostly positive. The only hiccup was that it took them about 2 days to reply to my first email. I was getting a bit antsy. But once they got back to me, the agent was helpful and answered all my questions. If you need a fast answer, maybe call instead of using office@houstonmotorsauction.com.

@CautiousChris yeah that can happen, they probably get swamped with emails. a phone call is usually quicker for any auction biz. what matters is they got it sorted. what did you end up getting?

@RepoHunterDave True. And yeah, ended up with a great deal on a Sea Ray boat from Houston Motors Auction. So overall, I'm happy. Just a bit of a slow start.

My neighbor bought a Chevy Silverado from Houston Motors Auction and asked me to give it a once-over when it arrived. I was expecting the worst lol but gotta say, it was exactly as described in their report. No hidden rust, engine was sound. Minor cosmetic stuff was all pictured. Solid truck.

I'll chime in. We got our Subaru Ascent from houstonmotorsauction.com last year. The whole process was handled online. Delivery was on time and the car was clean. Saved a few thousand compared to dealers.

Same experience as some others here with my boat purchase. The bank lien was cleared by Houston Motors Auction right after payment. Got all the official paperwork and the clean title delivered straight to my door with the vessel. No issues at all registering it.

They're legit. I bought a camper van. The only slight negative was delivery was pushed back by a couple days. They said the transport driver had an issue. They did call me to let me know, so communication was good. Just a heads up that delivery estimates can shift. But the van itself was perfect.

This thread is great! For those who bought, was the bidding stressful? I'm worried about getting sniped at the last second from houstonmotorsauction.com.

@NewbieNina They have an extended bidding feature. If someone bids in the last minute, the clock adds a couple more minutes. Prevents sniping. Read the rules on the Houston Motors Auction website, it explains it well. Best way is still to figure out your absolute max price and put that in.
